UT Earns Shutout Over Nova Southeastern in SSC Semifinals

TAMPA, Fla. -  A pair of goals scored by Lister Warren pushed the No. 8 University of Tampa Spartans over the Nova Southeastern University Sharks in the second game of the Sunshine State Conference Semifinals by a score of 3-0. The Spartans’ record improves to 17-1-1 while the eliminated NSU falls to 8-10-2.

The newly awarded Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year Ryan Thompson gets credited with the shutout while picking up seven saves in the 3-0 victory.

Warren’s first goal came off an assist from National Player of the Year candidate Pascal Milien which he headed off the cross and into the goal in the first ten minutes of the contest. The second goal scored by Warren was a header that came off a free kick booted by Dan Ingvarsson with 13 minutes remaining in the half.  The two goals by Warren tied him with teammate Milien for 11 goals on the season.

The final goal in the second game of the SSC semifinal doubleheader came from Milien, whom already picked up an assist and shut the door on the Sharks in the final 15 minutes of the game.

The championship game of the SSC tournament is to be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Barry University Buccaneers for the tourney title.
