JACKSONVILLE,
Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After playing to a tie through 70 minutes Saturday
night on the road, the UCF men's soccer team settled for a 0-0 draw at
Jacksonville when the game was called in the 71st minute due to inclement
weather and unplayable conditions.
The Knights move to 2-1-1 on the season and runs its unbeaten streak to
three games.
"It was an excellent college soccer game, back and forth by both teams,"
said head coach
Bryan Cunningham. "We hit the crossbar, they hit the crossbar, but
unfortunately in the end the weather won tonight but we will come back ready
to play on Friday night."
UCF had chances in the game with nine shots, but the Knights were unable
to push across a goal for the first time this season. Junior
Gianni Piccoletti (Bariloche, Argentina) led the Knights with three
shots and now has a team-high 14 on the season.
Redshirt freshman
Shawn Doyle (Ft. Myers, Fla.) saved three shots in the game and
registered his first collegiate shutout.
UCF returns home for its next contest, hosting Houston Baptist in the
second game of the UCF Fall Classic Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
