ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Junior defender Kevin Partel (St. Augustine, Fla./St. Joseph Academy) and junior goalkeeper Matt Gilman (Ocala, Fla./Jacksonville U.) were selected as Peach Belt Conference Players of the Week, at their respective positions, for the period ending Sept. 20, in a release today by conference officials.

Partel, the PBC Defensive Player of the Week, scored the second goal of his career and helped preserve a shutout in a 3-0 win at UNC Pembroke last Saturday. For the season, he has played in all six matches and has started in four.

A Flagler player has earned PBC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. Steven Carothers (Apopka, Fla./Bishop Moore HS) received the honor last week.

Gilman, the PBC Goalkeeper of the Week, recorded his first shutout of the season when he blanked UNC Pembroke last Saturday. UNCP attempted 11 shots, but Gilman saved the two which were on goal. Earlier last week, he played a half against No. 18 Rollins where he tallied one save. For the season, Gilman has played in five matches with four starts and has a record of 2-2-0. His goals against average is 2.84.

Gilman becomes the second Flagler net-minder to receive PBC Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Zach Volpi (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Bishop Moore HS) earned the recognition on Sept. 9.

Flagler (2-3-1) visits Saint Leo University tomorrow (Sept. 23) night in a 7 p.m. kick-off.
